Hazelnuts for a Healthy Heart
“Scientific evidence suggests, but does not prove, that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, such as hazelnuts, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.” According to the 2006 Consumer Attitude & Usage Tracking Study conducted by the Hazelnut Council, 72 percent of consumers who were aware of the heart health claim reported that they are likely to increase their nut consumption. This presents an opportunity to attract customers to existing products by featuring the health claim on product packaging. The label bearing the seal must also contain the approved health claim mentioned above. Click here for more information about hazelnuts and healthy snacking. |
