Au Bon Pain and The Hazelnut Council have partnered in a new outreach program that pairs newly created hazelnut treats with a frothy hazelnut latte.
The campaign was inspired by research showing that 75 percent of Americans who have tried hazelnut coffee are likely to try a hazelnut pastry.
The Hazelnut Council Culinary Center helped develop two gourmet brownies -- Hazelnut Mocha and Hazelnut Rocky Road. Au Bon Pain created a Hazelnut Dream Cookie that truly is a dream with butter, sugar and hazelnuts.
In January, the Hazelnut Mocha Brownie, Hazelnut Dream Cookie and Hazelnut Latte will launch in 115 Au Bon Pain cafes. Direct outreach and newspaper ads in Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington, D.C., start January 13th and run through the month.
The Rocky Road Brownie is being test marketed in six cafes before it goes on to larger distribution.
